February 11, 2026 — �鶹������Ӿ� hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, Feb. 10, marking the beginning of the construction of the new �鶹������Ӿ�Tennis Complex. The complex will feature six new tennis courts and serve as the home of NKU’s tennis programs.

The groundbreaking ceremony included remarks from President Cady Short-Thompson, Vice President and Director of Athletics Christina Roybal, �鶹������Ӿ�head men’s and women’s tennis coach Brian Nester, and student-athletes Sydney Zakic and Jackson Poulos.

“For our student-athletes, this tennis complex will mean home,” says NKU’s Director of Athletics Christina Roybal. “It reflects momentum across �鶹������Ӿ�athletics, and the pride, efforts and commitment the Norse community shares with us every day. These partnerships make a difference in the lives of our student-athletes, and our programs will feel the impact of this contribution for years to come.”

The new-and-improved complex will enhance the Norse student-athlete experience and support the growth of the university’s tennis program while also providing recreational opportunities for students and the surrounding community.

“The new complex is a complete game changer, not only for student-athletes but for the greater student body as well,” says freshman tennis player Syndey Zakic. “This is a guiding step for the program, and I am so excited for the future of our tennis teams. On behalf of the entire team, we are so grateful for this contribution to the program and the �鶹������Ӿ�community.”

The architect for the project is RossTarrant, the contractor is Tarkett and Heapy Engineers will serve as the project’s engineering firm. Construction of the �鶹������Ӿ�Tennis Complex is expected to be completed by June 2026.
